Updated the add scripts to make it easier to tag a building with a street address. Entering an address into the new Spot, Place, or Event forms will update the object location to the Google Maps geolocation for that address.
Entering an address is optional.

Search results now include recent twitter posts created close to your current position.

This is a substantial update. Changes include:

A quickstart guide is available.

Support for the industry standard location methods, so now Oobliata can get your location from an iPhone (or any other device that supports the standard) without the need for a helper application.

We added a step-by-step menu to allow mobile users to add permanent spots from their phones. This is in addition to the ability to tag a temporary spot and edit it later at a desktop or laptop computer. Permanents spots become visible immediately, while temporary spots are not.

We have updated the Oobliata web application. Desktop viewers will now see help text alongside the primary Oobliata application interface. The mobile interface has not been changed. Additional changes were implemented to improve Oobliata’s stability.

New Feature in 0.9.4 is People Search. With people search you can find other Oobliata Users that are near your current location (or ‘Now Spot’). You will see someone if:

a.) The user has registered with Oobliata.

b.) The user has set their Now Spot to ‘visible’.

c.) The users was close to your current ‘Now Spot’ when they last updated their location.

Also in version 0.9.4:

The change in nomenclature from ‘locations’ to ‘places’ is complete.
When you tag a location from a mobile device, the system will default to creating a temporary spot, event, or place. This allows you to avoid entering in a lot of information into your mobile phone. Instead you will be prompted to edit these temporary spots the next time you log onto Oobliata from a desktop computer.

Screen Names added

Screen names are now supported when you register for Oobliata.

Screen names will be used to create personal pages for Oobliata users, and allow people to browse spots created by specific users.

At this time, we do not plan to allow users to edit their screen names (or the unique tag that is created when you create your screen name). Pick a screen name that you can be happy with in the long term.

Advanced search has been enabled.
Search Results include results from Wikipedia that are tagged with coordinates near your search location (local search only).

Coming Soon:

We will be changing the name of shared golocation objects from ‘Locations’ to ‘Places’. Until the change is complete, there might be a mix of vernacular on the site.
